The inner working may have been slightly different, but they were well made.In the 1960’s we had no internet, no amazon.com, no Musicians Friend. But some of my friends couldn’t afford Fender, so Silvertone amplifiers were the next choice.Looking back, there were some other fine amplifiers that were probably in the same price that came with finer construction, but a Silvertone amplifier was so accessible. By the time I was 12 there was no question about it, I had to have a guitar. Dad bought me a very used Stratocaster for 0 USD.I saved up 0 to by a Fender Deluxe Reverb amplifier.

Early '60s, JMI (Jennings Musical Industries) production, small student combo, 4 watts from a single EL84, ECC83/EF86 preamp, EZ80 tube rectifier, black vinyl, lovely brown Vox grille cloth, hinged handle, has added footswitch jack...

From before WWII right on through the rockin' fifties, the trippy sixties, and part of the solid seventies, Silvertone was there with well-designed, affordable and just supremely cool guitars and amps, acoustic, folk and other instruments, sleek, contemporary, sometimes funky designs in home electronics, and a host of other products that have made Silvertone more than just a word: it's a way of life.
